Most of us are aware of organ donation and its benefits to society . A person medically fit can be considered as a living donor for transplantation as well as someone may pledge to donate his body after his death . In both cases it is voluntary donation . But whether it is brain death or otherwise , the family members have the right to give consent or refuse . The laws differ from country to country .
Several parts of the body can be considered for donation to give life to people who are on maintenance therapy and leading a painful life . Kidney and liver donation can be done by a living as well as cadaver doner . Apart from these heart and stem cells , skin and eyes can also be harvested within few hours from the deceased person's body into the recipient patient's body . Just imagine the situation , a blind person can see again , a person with a burnt body can get a chance to live better with a new skin , a patient suffering with kidney failure and on regular dialysis can get an improved life by a new renal graft transplantation , similarly a heart patient can continue to live more years with a new heart .
Some may oppose on religious grounds or superstition but if we deeply think over this don't we feel we need to do something for these suffering people ? What's there in getting buried or burning our mortal bodies . We can still live on through these suffering people . The smiles on their face are our blessings from God . We need to inform and educate our family members as well , because all decisions have to be made within few seconds of our death . Whole body donations can also be pledged which will help medical students and research work .
