It is depressing to note when India is struggling to builid up its economy and achieve financial independence the higher class Indian society is totally insensitive to this state and they spend a huge amount on several ocassions performing established rituals to make a name in the society . From birthday parties , marriage ceremonies to funerals Indians spend a lot of money which is almost unnecessary .
The marriages cost a lot of money. In India the marriages of the higher and higher middle class families is too extravagant . Do they in anyway conform to the socio-economic structure of
India ? Is it not time for the Indian Govt.to come forward and legislate to stop such unwanted extravagance ? Marriage is the bond between two people and their family.Does that necessarily need floating parties, giving sumptuous lunch and dinner invitation and flaunting jewellery and other accessories .I think the best option is going to a marriage officer/registrar appointed under Special Marriage Act 1954 and legally get married and then simply distribute sweets or arrange small family function and seek blessing of elders and God.I always think of this and personally feel that this money could have been spent to uplift the socio-economic condition of India .
